On the front are the warriors Saints George and Demetrios, and at the bottom are the Great-martyr and Healer Saint Panteleimon.
Panteleimon is venerated as a protector of soldiers, derived from his first name “Pantoleon”, which means “a lion in everything”.
It is also deemed that soldiers received more frequent wounds than others and are in need of a powerful healer.
On the reverse side is Archangel Michael with sword and shield, and the Image of Christ “Made without human hands” at the top.
